New spoilers for “Game of Thrones” Season Five reveal that there will be some incredibly shocking deaths, but George R. R. Martin warned his fans that the characters in question are still alive in his novels. Meanwhile, Richard Dormer discusses whether or not Lord Beric Dondarrion will return this season as well.
In a statement that certainly had “A Song Of Ice and Fire” fans raging, author George R.R. Martin revealed that “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss would kill off a few characters that are still alive in his novels, reports TIME.
In an interview with Showbiz 411, Martin warned book fans that they are going to be very unhappy that the showrunners will be killing off characters who are still alive at the end of “A Dance With Dragons.”
The author also joked that show fans and book fans alike will have to “stay on their toes” because the showrunners enjoy killing off beloved characters just as much as he does.
While no one is quite sure which characters will be getting the axe next season, some fans are speculating that the lineup could include: Barristan Selmy, Grey Worm, Ser Jorah Mormont, Stannis Baratheon, Arya Stark, Ser Loras Tyrell, Trystane Martell and Cersei Lannister.
Aside from the speculation over which characters will live and which characters will die, Richard Dormer has confirmed that Lord Beric Dondarrion will not be a part of the fifth season.
In an interview with Esquire, Dormer revealed that the showrunners haven’t said anything about bringing Lord Beric back for Season Five, so it is unlikely that fans will see the Lightening Lord and the Brotherhood Without Banners again this year.
