The countries Public Security Ministry later stated. “With three people already in the car, where else were the pigs going to fit?”

The pig were driven home and reunited with their owners.

Transporting stolen animals by this method is not uncommon in Costa Rica. On March 19, police arrested two people driving a car with a mule in the trunk. In July 2014, police got into a shootout with suspects before finding a green sea turtle in the boot of their car. In 2005, a cow was riding in the backseat of a taxi.
